2005 Sterling Forest GeoPDF

What I did to produce this:

  • Took the Adobe Illustrator version of the map and saved it as a modifiable PDF
  • Picked it up with TerraGO Composer and Geo referenced it. (hence watermarking)
  • Saved that as a GeoPDF

You can now pick it up with Adobe Reader if you have installed the TerraGo toolbar (free).

The toolbar lets you turn the various layers on and off, e.g. try turning off the contours.

Some obvious flaws are that we have far too many layers for non-cartographers to understand. They would have to be combined into sensible subsets. This particular map was from before we turned off hill shading, hence you are still left with something usable with the contours off.

The few odd ducks that march around with a GPS attached to their laptop can show their tracks as they walk. There are some Windows Mobile PDAs that can be used at some cost for the mobile version (unknown).

I also produced this same map without the layers but have not uploaded it.

TerraGo is at http://www.terragotech.com/
