This park, generously donated by the Rockefeller family, offers the opportunity for hikes of various length through the rolling hills of Westchester County, primarily on carriage roads.

Park Description:

There is a Visitors Center and an Art Gallery, which has rotating exhibits featuring local artists.  In addition to hiking, activities include fishing, horseback riding, cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Within walking distance is the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture  (seasonal parking fee) which, in additon to providing educational opportunitites, is the site of Blue Hill, reputed to be one of the finest restaurants in the metropolitan area. The center also has a cafe and ice cream stand.
Trails Overview:

Designed to complement the landscape, there is a system of carriage roads, many of which are handicapped accessible, that wind through wetlands, woodlands, meadows and fields, past streams, rivers and lakes. The first triple arch stone bridge in America can be seen along the Pocantico River Trail. Loop hiking opportunities abound.

The Old Croton Aqueduct Trail passes along the eastern end of the park.

Directions:
  • Located in Westchester County on County Route 117 in Tarrytown.
  • Taconic Parkway north: Exit County Route 117 Pleasantville. At end of ramp, turn left. Proceed through 3 lights. Preserve entrance will be on the left.
  • Taconic Parkway south: Exit NYS Route 100/Route 133 - Millwood/Mt. Kisco west. Turn left at end of ramp/traffic light onto NYS Route 100. Proceed south until NYS Route 100 joins with NYS Route 9A. Follow signs to merge onto NYS Route 9A south. Once on Route NYS 9A south, take 2nd exit - County Route 117/Pleasantville/N. Tarrytown. This is a left side exit. At end of exit ramp, turn right onto County Route 117 west. Preserve entrance is approximately 2 miles on the left.
  • NYS Route 9: Proceed to County Route 117 east. Preserve entrance is one mile east on County Route 117 on the right side.
  • Public Transportation: Metro-North: Train to Tarrytown Station. Taxi service is available from the station to the Preserve.
