The Trail Conference is proud to partner with the Open Space Institute and the Orange County Land Trust on the Highlands West Trail Connectivity Plan, a long-term initiative to conserve open space and support accessible outdoor recreation in New York’s western Hudson Highlands region. The plan establishes a regional vision for recreation, conservation, and local economic development in a region that has seen increasing residential, commercial, and industrial development pressures.

The Hiker Shuttle is your link to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and Worthington State Forest, providing FREE service between Delaware Water Gap Park and Ride, Kittatinny Visitors Center, Dunnfield Creek (for the Mt. Tammany/Red Dot Trail), and Mountain Road in Delaware Water Gap, Pa., for access to the Appalachian Trail at Mt. Minsi.

After 10 a.m. on most summer weekends, parking lots at both locations are full. The free Water Gap Hiker Shuttle will permit you to park your car in a safe place and provide you easy access to the trails at Dunnfield Creek and on Mt. Minsi. This complimentary shuttle service will run every half hour between 10 AM and 5:30 PM, departing from the Park and Ride.

Our Program Coordinators are essential to our volunteer-driven organizational structure. Their many responsibilities include:
–providing support for volunteer-led trail projects
–serving as a liaison between volunteers + park partners
–shouldering the administrative load so our volunteers can continue to perform the more enjoyable elements of the work on the ground
–stepping in to cover vacant volunteer leader positions to keep trails maintained and park partners happy. Currently, our network of maintained trails spans over 2,100 miles. All that mileage requires an enormous number of volunteer leadership positions to be filled at all times.
