Woodbine wants to host ATV park

Body

WOODBINE-- The borough hopes to host one of the three state designated parks for off-road vehicles, according to longtime Mayor William Pikolycky.

"It is a site just off 610, already constructed for and in use for off-road vehicles," said Pikolycky. "The financial negotiations are ongoing between the state and the private owners, and I'm hopeful that they will reach an agreement within six months."

Legislation signed into law by departing Gov. Jon Corzine in early 2010 requires that the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection site three parks for off-road enthusiasts on state land, one each in the northern, central and southern parts of the state. The law makes all off-road vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), snowmobiles and dirt bikes, subject to mandatory statewide registration.
